The Brain Stimulation and Neurorehabilitation Laboratory is committed to mentoring physician–scientists, trainees, and early-career investigators interested in neuromodulation, neurorehabilitation, and cerebrovascular research. Mentees are actively involved in all stages of research, including study design, data acquisition, analysis, and dissemination, and benefit from close mentorship, interdisciplinary collaboration, and exposure to both mechanistic and clinical research environments. Through this training model, the laboratory supports the development of future leaders in translational neuroscience and rehabilitation science.

Physician-Scientist Mentee Neurovascular Physiology and Cerebrovascular Disease
Dr. Cameron D. Owens’ work focuses on neurovascular and cerebral hemodynamic mechanisms that contribute to cognitive impairment in age-related diseases, particularly in asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis and cerebrovascular disease. His research integrates multimodal physiological approaches including EEG, fNIRS, and transcranial Doppler alongside ex vivo plasma-based biomarkers to advance mechanistic understanding of brain–vascular dynamics.
