CAB Members Lead Barbershop Conversation on Men's Health

Two of our CAB members, Dr. Kaninjing and Mr. Reese, recently took part in a Barbershop Conversation, an initiative aimed at fostering open discussions about Black men’s health in a comfortable and trusted community space. They shared insights on prostate cancer awareness, early detection, and the importance of open dialogue about health concerns.

Don Reese, a barber and prostate cancer survivor, highlights the critical need for awareness and screening for prostate cancer, especially among black men. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with early detection improving treatment outcomes. Men are urged to discuss family history and symptoms with their doctors, understand screening methods, and prepare questions for consultations. Personal stories emphasize resilience and the importance of seeking information.
